Teen Social Group, Boys & Girls Ages 14-18
Many of today’s modern teenagers suffer from anxiety, ADD/ADHD, autism or other social or self-regulation challenges. In our face-paced, social media driven world, startling rates of young people struggle to fit in – both online and IRL. Popularity is no longer gauged by the number of friends you may have but also by the number of reactions your posts receive online. All of this, in addition to normal teenage angst, can lead to perfectionism, self-criticism, and patterns of anxious thoughts. The sooner teens learn tools to cope the better.
Zier Institute’s Teen Social Group focuses on helping teenagers discover their best selves – young men and women who are confident, joyful and self-aware, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships.
Social groups help teach teens how to share their experiences and learn that they’re not alone. Every other week we practice social skills and supporting each other in real time:
- During quarantine, we are meeting via Zoom sessions to connect, play games and give a social outlet to teens to engage in a safe space
- When not in COVID-19 times we take sessions into the community: bowling, putt-putt, mall, restaurants, volunteer, escape rooms, etc.
