Many of the intervention strategies being used today to treat children with disabilities suggest that frequency and intensity are key to developmental growth. With this in mind, Zier Institute has created a program called, Play Partners, to help support families in their efforts to facilitate more therapeutic interactions. Play Partners are often graduate students with an interest in pediatrics or other professionals with experience working with children with special needs.
We provide training in the DIR/Floortime developmental model, in the unique profile of the child and their family, and ongoing support through video and weekly reports so that the Play Partners can be effective in the time spent with the children. Because relationship is so important to regulating and connecting, effort is made to keep Play Partners with one family.
